Float the most productive stretches of the Housatonic in a purpose-built drift boat. Cover water inaccessible from the bank.
A drift boat trip on the Housatonic is as good as fly fishing gets in the Northeast. You'll float through some of the most beautiful and productive trout water in Connecticut, covering miles of river in a single day.
From a drift boat, you can reach holding water that's simply inaccessible on foot — deep pools, undercut banks, and prime lies that rarely see a fly. Your guide rows while you fish, keeping you in perfect position cast after cast.
We'll meet at the launch point, get you rigged up, and spend a few minutes going over casting and technique before pushing off. From there, it's fishing — nymphing deep runs, swinging streamers through holding water, and when the bugs are up, working rising fish with dries.
Full-day trips include a streamside lunch. Half-day trips typically cover 4-6 miles of river; full days can cover 8-12+ depending on conditions and how often we stop to work productive water.
