Wade Fishing

The classic Housatonic experience. Waders on, boots in the current, reading the river with nothing between you and the fish.

On Foot, In the Current

Wade fishing is fly fishing at its most elemental. You're in the water, reading the current, positioning yourself for the perfect cast. It's intimate, immersive, and deeply satisfying when everything comes together.

The Housatonic has miles of excellent wade-accessible water — riffles, runs, pools, and pocket water that hold brook trout, brown trout and rainbows year-round. With a guide who knows every seam and every holding lie, you'll fish water most anglers walk right past.

What to Expect

We'll meet at one of our favorite access points and walk to productive water. Your guide will help you read the river, identify likely holds, and work through the technical aspects of presentation. Wade trips are excellent for learning — you can slow down, work a single run thoroughly, and really dial in your technique.
